L-mobile in use at Luhmann / Modular Server
The challenge

The Luhmann Wood Centre in Celle at the south gate of the Lüneburg Heath offers over 10,000 products for “building and living with wood” over an area of 55,000 square metres. Here you can find products for practically all building and renovation ideas. Experienced specialist staff have expert knowledge, ranging from floors to roofs, and from gardens to conservatories. Many of the products themselves are on display in the extensive showrooms. In terms of the service it offers too, Luhmann always strives to come up with the best ideas.
The solution
Based on an IT infrastructure analysis, L-mobile recommended replacing the 8 physical servers with a central Intel ® Modular Server in combination with VMware®. The configuration for virtual hardware allows Luhmann to draw on a huge pool of individual logical servers. Programs can now be transferred completely flexibly and as needs dictate, and resources are used cost-effectively. The Modular Server is also extremely failsafe. All components are designed with full redundancy. In addition, VMware Fault Tolerance ensures permanent availability of all applications. This systematically prevents even minimal data loss and interruptions.
